Are you finding it difficult to focus?

Do you find that just when you want to do something or focus on a thought, other activities appear that side track you from doing what you initially wanted to do?

I surely have had experienced many of such times. When I was practicing martial arts, focus came naturally. Once I left that world behind, sticking to one activity without getting side-tracked became a challenge. Overtime, I had fallen into a multi-task, over-active mindset that got me nowhere. I had to make some significant changes to my lifestyle to shift back to a more focused, balanced way of being. It didn’t happen over night though.

Having focus makes such a difference. With focus comes clarity, efficiency, productivity and as James Redfield said ‘where attention goes, energy flows’.

Often we get so blinded by our problems in life that we forget to focus on possibilities. When we focus on possibilities, we open doors to new opportunities. When we focus on what we want rather than what we don’t want, we create more of that.

The challenge is being conscious of our mindset from where we take our actions. We need to gradually build muscles of our mind to shift from noise to focus on the one thing that we want.

How can we do this?

If you are like me, who loves sports and nature, its a good place to begin. Making a decision to focus is also important.
In addition, you can try basic meditation and if you still find that you are getting distracted ask a friend or someone to hold you accountable. A lot of people including athletes, who want to expand beyond their limits have mentors to help them with their mindset too. There is a saying ‘the teacher shows up when the student is ready’. Are you ready to focus on what you want to create in your life?
