The story of the tortoise and the hare moral, generally is understood (while many have their own theories) as how the hare used trickery and deception to defeat the tortoise. However, the tortoise’s perseverance and drive, overcomes the hare’s overconfident and deceitful actions and behaviors.

I was thinking about the most recent events with the Tropicana “campaign” and thought of this story comparing the two.

Big Alcohol being the hare and people; especially in sobriety and/or recovery: the tortoise. Having to persevere carefully and calmly as the hare uses it’s over-confidence and bullying tactics to try to beat us. But the best part of this story?  The hare loses.

And in this case they did.

I am so proud of all of us stepping up and standing proud of our beliefs for what is right. Speaking up for those who can’t, won’t, or don’t even know they needed to be spoken up for.
