To realize ‘who am I’ is called Self-Realization
There are two pathways to attain Self-Realization:
- The Kramic path and
- The Akram path
Kramic path is the common traditional path where a person renounces worldly things and slowly climbs up, one step at a time, towards the ultimate goal of moksha.
The other path is the Akram path, which is an exceptional path and is indeed a wonder in this present age, because on this path you are not required to acquire or renounce anything. You can attain spirituality even while living your worldly life, just as Emperor Bharat did – he fought battles, enjoyed his royal life, and yet attained liberation!
On the Akram path, we directly attain Self-Realization with Gnani’s grace!!!
In just two hours time, we attain the experiential knowledge of the Self. This process is known as Gnanvidhi, which is totally hassle-free and completely free of cost too.
In Gnanvidhi, Gnani bestows upon us the knowledge of really ‘who am I’ and gives us the right understanding of ‘who is the doer?’ Consequently, we realize that really, “I am not Chandubhai (you may insert your own name here); I am a Pure Soul. I am not the doer, my function (as a Pure Soul, the real Self) is only to see and know.”
After Gnani Purush makes the separation that ‘This is the vision of the Soul, the real Self, and this is the vision of the worldly self (Chandubhai)’. Thereafter, we can keep the awareness of the Pure Soul (our real Self), and feel the separation from the mind, speech and body.
On this path of Akram Science, we are not required to leave our religion or change our Guru, even whatever rituals we are doing, we may continue. Whatever we are believing in, we leave it as it is. But internally, we are knowing that really, ‘who am I and who is the doer’. And once we know ‘who am I’, then only our spiritual progress can start.
When one realizes that, ‘I am a Pure Soul’, he tastes the permanent happiness
During Gnanvidhi (Self-Realization Ceremony), one tastes the permanent happiness, the inherent property of the Pure Soul. Therefore, thereafter the fascination towards worldly life or material objects automatically begins to cease. Also, as one learns to stay more and more in the awareness of Pure Soul, attraction or even hatred towards material life does not occur at all.
Also, with the knowledge of ‘who is the real doer’, our charging of new karma stops. Gradually, over time, the old karmas bear fruits one-by-one and get discharged. Consequently, one day, the Soul comes to a state where it is free of all the coverings. When no covering of ignorance or karmas remain on the Soul, the Soul is liberated from the cycle of birth and death!!
Ignorance of the Self is the one that causes bondage, and not the worldly life
Akram Vignan, in no way, obstructs our daily worldly life; it instead removes the ignorance of the Self that is actually obstructing Self-Realization. Hence, we can live the worldly life amidst all the luxuries, and yet remain unaffected by it; such is the science of this Akram path!
Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, an enlightened being, emphatically explains, “To live a worldly life and at the same time be on the path of moksha is not just a possibility, but it is something that you can yourself experience. You will understand it when You experience it. You may think it’s not possible, but it is something that you can experience. This is because the two things are separate, and it is possible to experience each one separately.
If the worldly life was indeed an obstacle on the path to moksha, then it would mean that those who have renounced their worldly lives would have had their problem solved. But that does not happen! As a matter of fact, the worldly life does not hinder moksha at all. For moksha, it is not the worldly life that gets in the way; it is the ignorance of the Self. The Gnani Purush gives us such a precise and unfailing knowledge of Self that it immediately comes into our experience. The knowledge that gives results is real knowledge!”
Absolute humility is required to attain Gnani Purush’s Grace
“The Gnani Purush can destroy the ignorance of the Self and also remove the obstacles for you. But there are certain obstacles that even Gnani cannot remove.”
What are those obstacles?
“Wherever there is a violation of humility. Humility is the foremost thing on the path of moksha. There should not be even a single negative thought about the Gnani Purush”, Dadashri clarifies, and thus concludes:
“Absolute and utmost humility leads one to liberation. Everything else is worldly entanglement and there is no end to it – wherever you go. This entanglement will follow you to a cave in the Himalayas or will follow you if you decide to live a worldly life.”
