A Wow Moment for Civil Rights.
The NY Times reports that for 1st time, more than 50% of Americans view “gay + lesbian relations” as morally acceptable. Also for 1st time, the percentage of men who hold that view is greater than women.
Good god, why? No one knows, of course, but educated guesses include an increased understanding, based on leading homophobes, that homophobia is no more than suppressed homosexuality; and that more and more of us, men in particular, know and like gay and lesbian men and women in our day to day life, as more and more Americans come out of the closet.
