If I lay
With lions
Will the roar
Inside my head
Cease
To a low rumbling
That I can learn
To accept
Without fear
If I dive
Into the ocean
Will my scalding tears
Blend with the rivers
Of generations
Whose grief
Came before mine
If I fly
With birds
Of paradise
Will I find freedom
And weightlessness
Will I skim clouds
And let go
Of my hurt
My heavy heart
If I forget
The words
They taught me
If I let my eyes talk
And my touch
Tell the rest
Of the story
Will the emptiness
Leave
Will the hollowness
Go
