Ageless Body, Timeless BS. Grow Younger, Live Longer?! 10 Steps to Reverse Aging…and Waste Your Life.

New Age Bullshit? Or Spiritual Materialism?

Nostrums, Remedies, Snake Oil and other New Age Quackery!

Personally, I look forward to being old and wrinkly.

Why would a wise man like Dr. Deepak Chopra feed into our society’s unhealthy obsession with staving off death, into a multi-billion dollar industry devoted to looking (and, these days, acting) young forever?


Hint: it won’t work. Love your aging self. It takes practice. Thinning hair. Sagging breasts. Crow’s feet. If Dr. Chopra, or anyone who’s ever lived (and died) knew how to “reverse aging,” well, they would be more famous than God Herself.

Perhaps Dr. Chopra should stick to what he’s good at: teaching inner peace and happiness—which is the only way I’ve ever known any old timers to look young (thinking of you, Robert Spellman and Joan Anderson).

There’s better stuff to do with our short, “precious human birth” (as they call it in the Buddhist tradition) than obsess in the mirror, get some useless botox injections or spend a small fortune on fancy eyecreams.

Or expert photoshoppers for your book covers.

I agree with the other commenters that have also read the book. Plus, doing things that keep you young physically and mentally will mean that your "elder years" will be easier! I have read (although I can't remember where), for instance, that the time you spend exercising does not add that many more years to your life–you have spent some of that time exercising, after all–but the QUALITY of life you will have makes it worthwhile. And, turning 59 today, I have not been a diehard health fanatic by any means but I have made efforts to stave off some of aging's effects. As a result, I do not wear glasses or contacts, my hearing (recently checked) is excellent, I have very few wrinkles and no arthritis, osteoporosis, or any other physically limiting issues. I just finished walking two miles up and down the hills of my mountain home and I regularly do Pilates and Yoga (I can lift my two year old granddaughter from the floor into my lap even while sitting on a bar stool). Some of the things you can do ABSOLUTELY DO work and make life easier over all. Why should I do nothing until I have to "practice" loving my older self? Besides, I think that most of the issues the author is telling us we should accept have largely to do with poor lifestyles: unnecessary stress, eating poorly and general neglect of our mental, physical and spiritual health. The author doesn't want to make the effort and so wants to dissuade anyone else. That attitude of "what's the use?" IS part of the problem!
