Love this. I grew up in this world, and have heard many such similar stories, most more positive than this, and with a bit less resentment…but everyone’s experience is valid, needless to say, and the personal honesty of these reflections is precious, offering a real in-depth flavor of what it was like to be in the evolving world of American Buddhism back in the 70s.
