Bike of The Day {BOTD}

This vintage French “Leopard” bicycle is a mixte. Tony couldn’t be happier! It’s beautiful. Seen at Books, Inc in Gainesville, FL…

The Leopard headbadge. Headbadges are an art form. Just check out the variety in this group that showcases headbadges old and new from all over the world.

Leather saddles generally get better over time. The engraving on this Ideale saddle also says “Made in France”.

There are two definite camps when it comes to leather saddles: those who love and swear by them, and those who wish they did, have tried, and sadly switch to cushioned saddles.

The handlebars are engraved “Randonneur”, which means “long distance cyclist”.

This Leopard is equipped for comfortable commuting. It’s got good fenders, exquisitely brazed racks ready for panniers fore and baskets aft. The two position brake levers permit safe upright riding or racing posture. There’s also a friction generator driven light system. This bike was born before Tony and, with care, will outlast us all.
