Miramontes Festival This Week–Celebrating Women and the Arts!! [local fave Paper Bird to make appearance!]

Today is International Women’s Day!!

To celebrate women in the Arts, CU-Boulder is honoring Ofelia Miramontes, former professor of education and associate vice chancellor for diversity and equity at the University of Colorado, with a week of events on campus. You can see everything from Vietnamese Fan Dancing, to slam poetry, to a Bhangra DJ!

Check out the website for more information and a schedule of events: miramontesfestival.org

I’m particularly excited about tomorrow night’s event. CU’s Cultural Events Board and Program Council are teaming up to bring a line-up of performers that showcase the spectrum of female musical talent.

Tuesday, March 9th, 7:30pm. UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom:

Danielia Cotton, Eisley, Paper Bird, and DJ Rekha…

FOR FREE!!!

If you aren’t familiar with the headliner, DJ Rekha, she is the founder of NYC’s Basement Bhangra party. She spins traditional Indian folk music with hip hop and dancehall beats. It’s gonna be a blast.
