Men United FTW!

Here at ele, we’ve always been loud proud outspoken fans of equal rights for all. So in this day and age of Prop 8 and civil unions it’s nice to see such a thoroughly un-self conscious enthusiastic display of love.

Via Connexxion and Towleroad:

Manchester United captain Gary Neville planted a kiss on teammate Paul Scholes after Scholes scored the winning (and only) goal against Manchester City just 20 seconds before the end of the match-up.

Hundreds of comments enthusiastically debate the nature of the kiss—gay, bicurious, straight? No matter the opinion, the mainly commenters on these two gay sites were United in their judgement: who cares, it’s Hot! Cute!

As one commenter pointed out: “Italian men (straight) do this frequently (when they are good friends and relatives). It’s not a big deal. They also walk together arm in arm when they are strolling around and having a conversation and enjoying each others’ company. It’s common to see the men arm in arm and their wives or girlfriends arm in arm behind them and yakety yakking away.”

    Waylon – really!! In this day and age who cares!!

  2. Who cares is right! It's awesome! But alllll the comment on the gay sites were about whether they were straight, gay or bicurious…so apparently someone cares. It's all fun!

  3. Oh, and btw, read the above more carefully, I made sure to include in my paraphrased comment the notion of 'who cares' directly! Who cares!

    Love recklessly- in that moment was it a "gay" expression or a gay expression- who cares

    @Harold – I agree – who cares?
    Amen, read the blog before you comment, we said "who cares," it's great, all fun! It's just that alllll the comment on the gay blogs referenced were debating whether straight, gay or bicurious…so we can lighten up, don't worry!

    Manu fans in da house & altho' a little surprising, footballers are always hugging, kissing & smacking each others butts…

    The more bromance & PDA, the better…

  6. Way, these un-self conscious displays of open affection happens all the time in the Italian Serie A, Spanish Primera and English Premiership.

    The sheer joy of scoring a goal against a tough defense makes people express great affection for whoever managed to do it. Its too bad that some people see the need to "sexualize" everything…including moments of sheer happiness and displays of open affection .

  7. Oh, and Siempre Barcelona!

  8. Sono arrivato qui per fortuna…. ma ci tenevo a fare i miei complimenti per questo articolo
