A Star is Born: Greyson Chance.

When I was twelve I dreamt of being the only girl in the Beach Boys. I wanted to be a star. I sang in the shower, the car and all over town. My friends used to ask me “Hey Diana, who sings this song?” I’d reply “so and so,” with the straightest face. Inevitably, they’d burst out laughing “Let’s keep it that way!”

Greyson Chance is my twelve year old hero of the week. In addition to talent, he’s got a rare, age-inappropriate independence. He appreciates Lady Gaga because she is ‘unique,’ an exceptional quality in a preteen of any flavor. He is so good that Ellen Degeneres started a record label just so she could sign the boy.

15 million hits on You Tube and counting. You can even see the young ladies falling in love in the background.

Me performing “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga at Edmond’s Sixth Grade Festival.

I own no rights to this song.
