Boulder: Mortimer CD Release Party.

Mortimer CD Release Party (Come See What the Giggles Are About).

Boulder, Colorado. Via Amanda Salzman:

Several years ago, while working at a camp in Durango, Colorado, I met fellow camp counselor Donnie Mortimer. A favorite among the female campers, the mere mention of his name sparked giggles and whispers. His long curly hair dramatized his obvious good looks, while his guitar melodies exposed a life anchored in humility, simplicity and community.

One might assume that the chips have always fallen into place for Donnie; however, he has been constantly haunted by his musical talent, which up until this point, he has only partially pursued. For the majority of the last year, however, he holed up with several other band members in Duncan Sheik’s upstate New York estate and worked to yield what the multitudes have been asking of him for years:

His first full-length album.

Join us this Thursday, September 9th, at 8:00 pm. at Tesla Motor Co. (9th & Pearl, Boulder) to celebrate the release of Donnie’s long-awaited CD. For $10, you’ll get a first listen of Donnie and his band performing tracks from their album (with special appearances from several local music legends!)  as well as an opening set by The Paper Stars, and, of course, an opportunity to see for yourself the cause of all those young campers’ whispers.

True to Donnie’s love of simplicity, beer, cheese, and apples will be served. The event is open to the public.

If you have any questions, you may email Amanda Salzman or check out the release page. Samples of Donnie’s music (and looks) are on his website.
