Enjoy a Good Night’s Sleep This Cold Season

Hot water bottle season is here again!

Enjoy night time warmth for yourself and each member of your family.

Fill your bottle with warm to hot tap water (never boiling) and place it near your pillow just before bed. When you snuggle in, you are greeted with soothing warmth at your side for your slumber.

Create a family ritual and sing or speak this haiku I wrote to yourself or with your family:

Hot Water Bottle.

Snuggly Hot Water Bottle.

Keep Me Warm All Night.

Children are especially comforted by this evening ritual. Since they do have a twist stopper, it’s advisable for use by children that can understand not to unscrew the bottle, usually around age three.

Fuzzy covers can be easily sewn to make this even more lovely for your child. Go together to pick out their favorite fabric. Handmade hot water bottle covers can be found at

Hot water bottles are a healthier and safer alternative to electric blankets and bed warmers.

Find one at your local pharmacy or apothecary.

They also make great personalized holiday gifts. Enjoy!

    Love your biog!
Love my hot water bottle! My wife and I always joke about it when we use them – we feel like a very old couple 100 years ago, but it's true, it's snug, and healthy, and safe. It's also necessary in winter here since we heat the house with a wood burning stove, and during the night it gets real cold…
And I suppose it's also energy saving compared to electric warmers…

    Hey Ben!

Great! Do you use a cover for your hot water bottle? I haven't met you and your wife, but I can imagine that you are very cute and cozy together!

What did you never think of?

I absolutely love hot water bottles and living here in the UK I need mine for most of the year. As you rightly say they are safer and healthier than any of the alternatives. I also believe they are more efficient and more "green". I get rather attached to mine and it's a sad day for me when the rubber eventually wears out and the bottle has to be replaced.
