Yoga Sells…Diapers?

I always find it interesting to see how many different products advertisers use yoga to sell.  Here’s a recent television commercial from Swedish diaper manufacturer Libero:

Do you think this is a refreshing use of yoga in advertisement?  Let’s face it, this isn’t how we usually see yoga used to sell a product.  Or are you of the mindset that any use of yoga, no matter how clever, in advertisement cheapens yoga?

About Birdie Greenberg

Birdie Greenberg has been a struggling yogi since the summer of 2004, when she was stressing herself out studying to pass the bar exam. In an effort to chill her out, her mom dragged her flapping and squawking into her first yoga class. She never looked back. Four years later, she became a Registered Yoga Teacher with Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago. Birdie lives and works in Los Angeles, California. And when she's not yogaing or blogging, you'll probably find her hiking in the mountains with her handsome husband and her two beloved furballs. You can read more about her personal yoga journey at her blog, Yogi, interrupted.

    I love this ad. For one, it actually has an interesting commentary- babies should be our teachers. Secondly,
    yoga actually has something to do with the product-the ad makes sense. Here in Rio, yoga is used to sell sugar;
    I will try to get a photo and post.

    Hey Kaj,

    I would love to see the sugar ad! If you can't post it here, my contact into is on my personal blog at

  6. Cute! It certainly won't generate as much controversy as the Toe Sox Ad!

    I think it's great and we should all be a little more like children, stop taking ourselves so seriously. Also goes to show how Yoga (Asanas) is becoming extremely mainstream, awesome! Life is art and being creative is truly living.

    I'd like it more if it was for cloth diapers. I do like the premise that we should allow our children to be our teachers – my kids love to make up their own yoga poses and teach me.

  9. I don't know, Genevive. The baby rights lobby is getting stronger every day.
