This was almost painful to listen to. I tried to remain just an observer, but found myself imagining being the mom on the other end of the line, and all the things I wanted to tell my son, all the reassurance I wanted to give him. The joy I wanted to share that he had been able to feel at peace with knowing who he was. Sigh.
