Easy Vegan NYE Apps.

No, I don’t mean the iPhone kind, but when it comes to NYE snacks and vegans, there is an app for that.  Here, I present a few easy dips and spreads that can be used to compliment any assortment of veggies, breads, crackers, etc.  None of these are supposed to be good for you, so be warned!


Vegan Pimento Spread

1 container Tofutti cream cheese
2/3 cup Vegannaise or other soy mayo
2 cups shredded Daiya cheese (cheddar or mix w/ mozz)
1 t turmeric
1 t paprika
1/2 t chili powder
1 minced clove garlic
4 T minced onion
1 4oz jar pimentos
Hot sauce to taste
Salt and pepper to taste

Place Tofutti, soy mayo, onion, garlic and all spices in food processor and mix well.  Add Daiya and pulse until desired consistency.  Add pimentos and pulse lightly.  Salt, pepper, and hot sauce to taste.  Refrigerate and serve.


Vegan Onion Chip Dip

1 container Tofutti sour cream
1/3 cup soy mayo
Either 1 pack of french onion soup mix
1/4 cup finely diced onion, 1 finely minced garlic clove, 1 t ground pepper, 1 T nutritional yeast, salt to taste

Mix, chill, and serve.



3 ripe avocado
1 small onion, diced
1-2 jalapeno, diced
3 limes or lemons, juiced
1 t. cumin
Salt to taste

Remove pulp from avocado and place in food processor.  Add remaining ingredients.  Pulse until desired texture.


Vegan Fire Bean Dip

4 cups kidney beans (make your own or canned)
1 onion diced
1/3 – 1/2 cup drained pickled jalapeno slices
1 bunch cilantro
2 T cumin
1/2 t sea salt
1/3 cup nutritional yeast
1/2 cup soy cheese (optional)

Combine all ingredients except soy cheese.  Pour in blender.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into oven safe dish, add cheese and mix.  Bake at 350* for 30 minutes or until heated through.


Super Easy Hummus

1 can or 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas
2 cloves garlic
3 T tahini
1 T olive oil
2 T lemon
Salt and pepper

Place all in food processor or blender and pulse to desired consistency.


Vegan Spinach Dip

1/2 cup vegan mayo
1 cup vegan sour cream
1 lb spinach, chopped (either fresh or use 1 10 oz package frozen spinach, thaw, and squeeze out water)
1/2 onion, finely diced
1 small can water chestnuts, diced (optional)
2 t dill
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 t turmeric

Mix and chill overnight or for several hours.


Enjoy your New Year’s Eve.  Eat and drink responsibly.  Don’t be a dip.
