Amy Poehler is apparently more than hilarious—she’s also involved with helping orphaned children through the Worldwide Orphans Foundation.
In an emotional speech at the 2013 Variety Power of Women event, Poehler represented WWO and delivered these provocative words:
“Every child should believe they are the center of the universe. If your child believes that right now, you’re doing a good job.”
She points out the simple truth that giving makes you feel good—selfishly, giving does just as much for the giver as it does for the recipient—and true to her big, funny-woman heart, she tells the audience that perhaps the biggest take-away is that “giving to charity is good for your skin and it makes your ass smaller.”
