South Dakota Community Living in Third World Conditions.

A Global Friendship has turned to Kickstarter to change the world one bracelet at a time.

A Global Friendship is a non-profit that empowers women around the world living on under $10 a day, helping them to break the cycle of poverty.

AGF works to improve the standard of living in developing communities. They create sustainable businesses for artisans around the world by providing them with small business training and market access to combat poverty and gender inequality.

Since AGF first launched, they have built a small business in Thailand and Indonesia that now employ 18 and 10 individuals, respectively.

Now, they are on a mission to help a struggling community right here in the U.S.—Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. They are living in third-world conditions and are dealing with an over 80% unemployment rate.

To help the reservation, AGF has partnered with the artisans of Pine Ridge to come up with The Sage Braid: A Global Friendship Bracelet that they are selling on Kickstarter.

The women on the reservation make the bracelets and all of the proceeds will go to developing three sustainable businesses on the reservation, as well as an outreach educational program to bring hope to the high school girls where the suicide rate is more than three times the national average.

The Sage Braid is made by weaving fresh harvested sage with premium handcrafted leather. Besides being a bohemian staple for every outfit, it smells incredible. The Sage Braid is unisex and completely customizable—all details are chosen by the customer.

Sage is completely organic. It grows in abundance on the reservation, which AGF is proud to say that they’re bringing a completely sustainable and eco-friendly product to the market.

The women on Pine Ridge Reservation have been struggling for decades and this is the campaign that could make a difference in their lives. Head on over to Kickstarter to check out The Sage Braid: A Global Friendship Bracelet.
