How to be a Kitchen Warrior & Survive a Zombie Apocalypse. ~ Sarah Rosenberg {Videos}

Let’s spend less time in the kitchen and more time being awesome.

Shall we?

In the past week, Facebook has treated me to three different life-altering, time-saving tips—all conveniently presented in video form—to reduce my kitchen-time commitment and inspire me to do great things in my out-of-kitchen life.

First, I offer you this little jewel on de-seeding pomegranates, sans a bowl of water: (You may want to skip the quirky intro and get right to the meat of the matter, which starts at 1:30.)

Total time saved for this tip: 10 minutes per pomegranate. Plus, now my fingers don’t turn yellow for three days following a pomegranate de-seeding.

A note of warning: when de-seeding pomegranates this way, be sure to keep your fingers clear of the whacking spoon, lest you be eating the seeds with a swollen thumb! Just sayin.’

Next, I present an amazing trick for peeling a whole head of garlic in less than 10 seconds—while preventing alliaceous fingers for three days post the pungent allium’s denuding—from SAVEUR magazine’s Executive Food Editor, Todd Coleman.

He had me at, “Peeling garlic is a pain in the ass!”

Time saved with this tip: one minute per garlic clove, totaling at least 12 minutes, as I rarely eat garlic in portion sizes of fewer than 12 cloves.

Finally, I give you the pièce de résistance, as CrazyRussianHacker and KGB Survivalist demonstrate how to open a can without a can opener, ultimately saving ourselves and our feline loved ones from starvation—epic!

Truthfully, I’m not sure which part of this video was more compelling—the fact that I can now feed myself canned food during a zombie invasion, even if I have no tools other than my own fear-enhanced concrete scraping abilities, or the sheer Russo-epicness of it all!

Total time saved: hard to tell, but maybe the remainder of a lifetime if I really had no way to open a can and would otherwise starve without its contents.

But the best  part of Facebook’s time-saving video offerings this week to this person’? Now I can prepare my world famous Garlic Pomegranate Tuna Casserole in just a third of the time it used to take me before. #winning

And as a bonus for my Paleo friends, here’s a quick and super easy way to make dairy-free whipped cream from Nutty Kitchen.

Let me know in comments what other kitchen time-saving tricks (or zombie apocalypse survival tips) you’ve encountered on the fabulous world wide web.
