7 Steps to Opening Your Inner Goddess.~ Rebecca Mckown

A Goddess you ask?

We all have the possibility of having an Inner Goddess whether you are male or female. Your Inner Goddess is the caretaker of your soul. Your goddess is deep within you. She is there to light the way.

Often times though, the outside world and your outer self hide your Goddess. We all have an inner self and an outer self. Your inner self is the unchanging essence of your soul.

When you are in tune with your inner self you are whole and feel at peace no matter what is going on in your outside world. Your outer self, though, identifies with your self-image and external things.

Objects and occurrences are always in constant flux. You will always feel an underlying current of instability as long as you identify solely with your outer self.

You cannot control life, therefore you are always at the mercy of the world.

Unless…Connecting with your inner self will help you to cope with what you don’t have control over. Finding your inner goddess will help. Here are steps to help you find her.

1.)  You are beautiful. You are beautiful both inside and out. Stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself. This could be a half mirror or a full mirror. Look at yourself and say, “I am beautiful.” Now say it and believe it. Do this throughout the day. Do it clothed and do it naked. Truly look at yourself and see beauty. It is there.

It may be hiding behind your thoughts and societies conditioning. Throw all that out and see you, the wrinkles, stretch marks, the rolls of fat and skin, veins, hair, and skin. See the gift that is you and see the beauty. Feel it and honor it. You are beautiful.

2.) Honor you. Take time each day to do at least one thing for yourself. What could you do today that is just for you? You could take yourself out to dinner, take a long relaxing bath, curl up and read a book. What is your heart’s desire? Think about what it is that will refuel your heart and soul and do it.

3.) Eat wholesome natural foods. Nourish your body. If you haven’t already, throw out all diets. Instead when making a choice as to what to eat for meals and snacks, choose whole foods. When it’s meal time make your food don’t go for the fast pre-made foods. Choose real ingredients. Your body, mind and soul will thank you and before you know it you will never think of the word diet again.

4.)  Take care of your physical appearance. It is OK to have days where yoga pants are the way for the day but make sure that at times you dress up. Put on a skirt, a necklace, a bracelet.

Don’t do it for others, do it for you.

Caring for your outside appearance shows respect for yourself and when you respect yourself others will respect you.

5.)  Get physical. Breathe in, breathe out. How do you like to move? Choose what feels good. If you dread it then it is not the direction to go in. If you are going to get physical exercise, then make sure it makes you feel good both physically and mentally. Do you love aerobics or running? If so, do it. If aerobics or running are something you dread and just do to get your exercise, stop doing it.

Find what makes your body smile. Find ease in your routine and your body and mind. You may need to try different forms of physical activity before your body lights up. It may be yoga, Pilates, or cycling. It could be long walks in the park. Choose what feels right and keep it part of your daily routine.

Your inner goddess will smile.

6.)  Follow your heart and your dreams will follow. We often spend our lives going in the direction that has been directed for us. We are pushed in directions that others find appropriate or respectful. This happens through education, career moves, where to live, who our friends should be.

Close out the misdirections and follow your heart. Listen to your inner-desires, the soft whisperings of your inner goddess, and abundance and happiness will follow.

7.) And finally, “You are perfect just the way you are.” This is something to be remembered always, and forever internalized. You are perfect just the way you are.

Don’t compare yourself to others.

Don’t place value on your accomplishments. Live life honestly. Feel the freedom in your choices. And know that you are already perfect. Perfection can’t be achieved, because you already possess it.

Now that you know how to find your Inner Goddess, take a walk with her and listen. She has some interesting things to share with you.
