Natural Rhythms. ~ Mercy Hernandez

Winter

The world was perfect at one point.

There was a rhythm and rhyme to everything.

That is, until we came along to skew its poetic symmetry into a muddled cacophony of angst and discord.

I am always awed by nature.

There is simplicity and order despite its daunting complexities.

Even varying species get along and respect each other’s space no matter how minuscule the square area they may share.

We cannot get along with our own neighbors, much less individuals from other countries and cultures. We can learn a lot from observing hawks glide above and flowers bloom below.

We en-cage ourselves into these little self-absorbed boxes shutting others out until the walls move in and we asphyxiate in our own ignorance.

Perhaps it would do us all some good to spend some time outdoors.

Just watch, listen and feel our own walls disintegrate to become part of the landscape.
