It is 80 degrees in Northern Ohio
But I like to think
I am more
Than another pair of shorts & sandals
On this November day.
I am the son of a higher self
Coursed with a hotter heat
That fuels on light and truth,
Which has given me
The mental dexterity
To light a fire
Under my own arches
And to listen
To my true inner voice,
A chorus of all my ages
And those yet to come
Beckoning.
I like to think
This life I live
Is a board game
Whose path and face
Keeps changing,
That today my token
Is a kayak,
Tomorrow a bicycle,
After that perhaps
The lesser vehicle,
That all of the cards
Flipped over
Are “live in the here and now” cards
And to live in the here and now
All over again.
