This Apology to Native Americans from U.S. Veterans Moved us to Tears.

This is what peace should look like.

Dozens of U.S. veterans did right by Standing Rock Sioux elders this week, asking for forgiveness for hundreds of years of oppression, exploitation of land and resources and for causing suffering to Native Americans across the country.

“We fought you. We took your land. We signed treaties that we broke. We stole minerals from your sacred hills. We blasted the faces of our presidents onto your sacred mountain… We didn’t respect you, we polluted your Earth, we’ve hurt you in so many ways but we’ve come to say that we are sorry. We are at your service and we beg for your forgiveness.” ~ Wes Clark, Jr.

It is difficult to watch this without shedding a tear. This is unity. This is peace. This is what will make America great.
