Body Love. {Poem}

my body is different now

the baby has long since left my womb
but my soft tummy seems to hang out of me
as I lay on my side.
I used to take breaks from eating
I used to suck it in
now
my lover reaches around my waist
and stretches his fingers over
what feels like a pouch
I love your belly
he says
and gently grips it
and shakes it
and moans low in his throat
the way you do when you can’t withhold your affection
and
I’ve never felt more loved.
