7 Solid Ways to Get High Naturally.

For years, I adored the pleasantries of a mindless buzz brought about by certain intoxicants.

I found pleasing solitude in quieting my incessant mind chatter, which I felt was the culprit of unnecessary disturbances. Although I still may visit that specific induced state on occasion, I receive deeper and longer lasting gratification through substance-free sources.

The pure feelings associated with getting high, the full-bodied lightness, the dissolution of tensions, the silly sensations buzzing through me, and the lack of care for the nagging distractions feed and center me. The more attention I place on the harmonious balance of feeling good, the less likely I’m lured into the demonic tornado of bad vibes.

The carefree thought of floating through cosmic space on a brilliantly alive planet deserves my attention much more than the injustices blasted on social media, the nonsensical news, or the drama of typical human complaining. When I’m high, my mind softens, layers dissolve, and I’m invited to merge with higher frequencies of universal peace.

Getting high goes beyond “zoning out.” I think it’s more like zoning in. Beyond our skin, bones, muscles, cells, and subatomic particles, we are composed of vibrating waves of energy. How cool! Since we are energy, doesn’t it make sense to let it flow in tranquility rather than stagnate in disorder?

When I participate in the social world, I’m often bombarded by discouraging misfortunes. There is a lot of heavy bullsh*t that craves our attention. That’s why getting high is so beneficial. It eases my mind from the unfavorable suffering and kindly shifts it into the elation realm of simply being alive.

These practices require more effort than simply sparking a lighter or hitting the bottle, but I find the rewards to outweigh any temporary mirth, free from undesirable side effects. When I want to get high off my own supply, using these tools invites a healthy flow of vital energy and gently transitions me into a cheerful, weightless, breezy, yet awake state of mind far from any dis-ease. Here are seven suggestions to play with:

  1. Meditation.
    ~

Meditation offers a substantial high accompanied by insight, clarity, and a sweet sense of serenity. As if being flooded with buzzing etherealness, my body enters a state nearly light enough to levitate. Ripples of peace waves permeate on a cellular level. Whether I’m gazing out into nature contemplating existence or sitting cross-legged with my eyes shut; keeping my body in stillness for an extended period of time allows my mind to follow. With heaps of substantial benefits, meditation can be beyond blissful, even eliciting beautiful visions and indescribable sensations.

    2. Shaking.
    ~
This ancient Qigong technique has numerous, valuable effects which specifically generate a better mood. It’s a quick way to release tension and stuck energy. Shaking detoxifies the organs and brings fuzzy lightness to our whole being.

Gunk is cleared out to enhance bodily systems, including past traumas held in our cells. When I’m cranky or feeling sluggish, I get up off my ass and shake my body until a smile is forced to the surface. Anxieties fall away as I imagine shaking out the heavy blues. I end up feeling super peachy and high. The longer I do it, the more it melts blockages.
    ~
It can even result in a spontaneous dance party! Feet can remain planted on the ground but stomping and prancing is fun, too. Open or close the eyes and let the body go wherever it wants. I make sure to use the arms, legs, torso, and bum to shake away worries. Listen to your body. Not recommended for women during moon cycle. “Structures of the mind release, The reservoir of habits dissolves. In an instant, lifetimes of patterns vanish.” ~ Vijnana Bhairava Tantra (on shaking)If you’re called to learn more, this is an excellent article on shaking.

    3. Pranayama.
    ~
Volumes have been written about the infinite benefits of breathwork. Pranayama is a sacred yogic practice that not only involves breathing deeply, but also consciously receiving prana (or life force) from the air we breathe.
    ~
We usually only use 10 percent of our lung capacity. Imagine if we used it all! Although the air stops at the lungs, the prana continues to move throughout the body. There are so many different types of pranayama. Find one that works for you and go at it! I love how high I get off the energy that is available anytime I mindfully breathe. Take a double hit and see what happens to stress. It dissolves like magic! Here is a fascinating look into pranayama:

“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.” ~ Amit Ray

“The Tantric sages tell us that our in-breath and out-breath actually mirror the divine creative gesture. With the inhalation, we draw into our own center, our own being. With the exhalation, we expand outward into the world.”
    ~ Sally Kempton

    4. Fasting.

Although this can be challenging because of the strong attachment we have to food, it works wonders eliminating toxins. Giving myself a break from food, if even for a short period, significantly reconditions the body and removes built-up waste. I recommend starting with one day (24-hour period) to begin. I like fasting from 5 p.m. to 5 p.m. once a week on the same day. It’s practical for me, and I notice how much lighter and buzzy I feel. It can be uncomfortable in the beginning as toxins swell to the surface, but it gets easier.

“Everyone can perform magic, everyone can reach his goals, if he is able to think, if he is able to wait, if he is able to fast.” ~ Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

“Fasting is the first principle of medicine; fast and see the strength of the spirit reveal itself.” ~ Rumi

    5. Practicing Silence.
    ~
One of my favorite methods of getting high is to remain in total silence. The longer I go without using my voice, the more the reservoir of fresh energy bubbles to the surface. Talking expels a lot of life force. Staying in silence not only reserves prana, but invites a very pleasant high felt throughout the body.

When I resist the urge to speak, I also become more mindful of the things I say. It may not always be practical to be quiet, but even a short period can make a difference. Stepping away from our phones, Wi-Fi, TV, or any other distractions amplifies the high in silence.

“Having to talk destroys the symphony of silence.” ~ Aleister Crowley

“Silence and solitude are universally recognized spiritual practices, and there are good reasons for this. Learning how to discipline your speech is a way of preventing your energies from spilling out of you through the rupture of your mouth, exhausting you and filling the world with words, words, words instead of serenity, peace and bliss.” ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

    6. Recycling Sexual Energy.
    ~
This impressive and extraordinary technique requires more willpower and patience, but it’s well worth the effort. Sexual energy is the most powerful on the planet. Typically, it boils to the surface before it’s mindlessly released. But when it stirs and simmers again and again without any discharge, it begins to move up and spread through the channels of the body. To prevent it from getting stuck in the pelvis, use visualization, deep breathing, and strong intent. It helps having a regular practice of inversions and uddiyana bandhas.

This might induce the highest of highs. Some of the deepest meditations and most sensational feelings have been the result of recycled arousal energy.

“Put away your pointless taboos and restrictions on sexual energy-rather help others to truly understand its wonder and to channel it properly.” ~ Neale Donald Walsch

    7. Vowel Meditation (also devotional chanting or any sound meditation).

Each sound produces a specific energy. That’s why chanting mantras is so powerful. The meaning of the chants is found in how they make us feel. We don’t need to know certain mantras to get the benefits of them. One of my favorite vowel sounds is “ah.” After taking some long, slow, deep breaths, I say “aaahhh” on the exhales over and over again until my entire body, mind, and spirit are flushed with peaceful vibes.

This sound stimulates the nerves of the heart and lungs. I love screaming “aaaahhh” in the car where I’m not disturbing anyone. It sheds unwanted imbalances and leaves me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It’s as if I’m “aaahhh-ing” out all the old sh*t, so new, pure vibrations can better resonate in me. Try it for at least five minutes and see what happens. Sit in stillness afterwards to observe the nourishing effects.

“Once you are meditative, music will naturally be a part of your life. Everything is vibration—everything is sound.” ~ Sadhguru

I could go into much greater detail on the advantages of all of these fairly simple exercises. Each one has significantly diffused burdens I might carry. Any physical, energetic, mental, or emotional stresses distract me from the truth that we are designed to feel good. Getting high naturally triggers something deep inside that reminds me this life is beautiful.

When we bring awareness to the positive, the world follows, as all of us are an expression of the whole. I will not feed any overwhelming negativity and watch it grow. I will get high on universal energy and merge those pleasurable feelings with the collective consciousness as vibrations spread. Getting high and feeling good is one of the best things I can do to benefit mankind and liberate my soul.

“Vibe high and the magic around you will unfold.” ~ Akilnathan Logeswaran

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” ~ Nikola Tesla
