Get Elephant Journal’s new Podcast, here.

16 years ago, I started Elephant. Here’s the long full version (I co-started Yoga in the Rockies).

I would interview big names–say Deepak Chopra–in my living room, on my couch, and friends of mine would ask to sit in the corner and watch. At first I demurred, thinking it’d lose the personal, direct quality I was going for in our conversations, which would be published in Elephant, then a small-but-growing print magazine.

But it felt selfish, so I opened up the conversations to friends, and then, soon, made them public around town, and then we started having big crowds and including arts, dance, poetry, parties, musicians. And we started putting the videos on youtube, where we now have 6 million viewers. We won national awards for best “green” video series.

And now, finally, we got a podcast for you. Both new videos and conversations with great folks and podcasts will be shared here, as well as news of book readings or events around the country, and world (I’ll be in NYC, soon, and Europe).

The podcasts and videos are not about me. I’m an idiot, sometimes, as are we all. They’re about mindfulness, and empathy, and health, and recipes, and travel, and anything that might inspire our path as sometimes-idiots, replete with sunny basically-good hearts.

If you’d like to help us, we need it—the first week for the podcast is key. So, if so inspired: 1) listen, 2) leave a kind review, 3) share, 4) subscribe. It’s a big help.
