Tips for Creating a Mindful Home

Spending the biggest portion of our day at work, it’s vital to turn our homes into enjoyable and cool places where we can relax, take a break, recuperate after a long day, and prepare for the next. Making your home mindful and relaxing sounds like the hardest thing in the world, but it’s actually much easier to do than people generally think. It’s all about having a handful of simple and effective ideas that can really go a long way, and then turning them into practice, so if you too want to create a mindful home as well, here are a few tips you should take into consideration.

Wake up and smile

This may sound like the worst tip in the world, but smiling more than before is the best way to boost your mindfulness and take it to a new level. But, this is easier said than done, and you need to invest some time and energy into creating a home that’s actually going to make you smile.

First, pay attention to the layout in your bedroom – instead of waking up facing the wall, rotate your bed towards the window, and the first thing you’ll see in the morning is the blue sky above you. This will help you relax right after opening your eyes, and this boost of good energy will keep you going all day long. Also, think about decluttering your living space and making more room for all those things that make you feel good. Doing that is easier than you think, so find some time for decluttering, and you’ll feel amazing right away!

Soothing colors

Repainting your home might not be your most favorite home improvement project ever, but it’s still something you need to do if you want to make your living space enjoyable and calming. And if you want to reach the highest level of comfort, your walls need to be covered in a soothing color that calms you down and inspires you to reach new levels of mindfulness.

Beige, gray, green, and blue are just some of the most calming tones you can opt for, but don’t be afraid to find your own favorite color, especially if you feel it’s going to work better than these. Whichever color you choose, you should consider repainting your home on your own as well – this is a rather simple project, but it can bring you closer to your living space, and make you feel more connected to it than ever before.

Home office mindfulness

Lots of people work from home, realizing that this is easier than commuting to work every single day and having to deal with obnoxious colleagues. But, just because you work from home doesn’t mean you don’t need a proper office, and making sure this office is motivating and mindful is crucial.

In order to do that, start by repainting your office and using one of the soothing colors mentioned above. Also, keep it decluttered at all times, and give yourself enough maneuvering space. Finally, keep your windows open all day long to get enough natural sunlight and fresh air, but don’t forget one of those helpful air purifiers for allergies that will help you fight off dangerous allergens and keep your home office completely mindful. Even if you find this tiring, be sure to invest some time into spicing up your office and making it inviting, enjoying, and inspiring.

Keep everything neat, organized, and cozy

This is another simple yet highly effective tip that can mean quite a lot to your home, your body, your mind, and your soul. Instead of scattering all your possessions here and there, try to keep your home neat, organized, and cozy. Start by making your bed in the morning – this habit comes with a number of benefits and can make you surprisingly productive, motivated, peaceful, and mindful – and doing your laundry regularly. This way, your bathroom will be spotless and well-ordered, and that will have a great effect on your mind.

Besides that, try to give yourself more storage space in every corner of your home, and make the most of every inch you have. Explore unusual ideas and seemingly unusable areas that can actually mean quite a lot in the long run, effectively boosting the mindfulness in your home. In the end, equip your living room with some comfortable seating arrangements, and give yourself a break – closing your eyes and meditating for ten minutes a day is quite helpful, so spend some time doing that as well.

Creating a mindful home isn’t easy, and it takes some time, money, and energy, but it’s totally worth it – living in such a home is better, healthier, and nicer than you can imagine, so find the ideas you like the most, and start introducing them into your living space straight away!
