Can CBD Oil Help Pain?

Pain is THE most cited reasons for using CBD oil. This might be for arthritis, migraines, MS, or any other type of pain.

Your body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that receives and translates signals from cannabinoids. Your body also produces some of its own cannabinoids. These are called endocannabinoids. These help regulate functions such as sleep, your immune-system, and pain perception.

These are good signs that CBD oil could help pain. But this isn’t proof! Let’s see what science tells us…

Scientific Studies On Pain And CBD Oil

This study concluded that there “was accumulating evidence for various therapeutic benefits of cannabis/cannabinoids, especially in the treatment of pain, which may also apply to the treatment of migraine and headache.” – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30152161

This following study shows that CBD oils are good for inflammatory and neuropathic pain – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3371734/

This 2017 study shows that CBD oil helps pain relief in rats when given a surgical incision – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5478794/

This shows CBD oil’s effectiveness for helping with physical pains.

This following scientific source shows that adults with chronic pain are “more likely to experience a clinically significant reduction in pain symptoms” when treated with CBD oil – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK425767/

In this following study, CBD oil was applied onto rats skin who suffered from induced arthritis. It concluded that “CBD application has therapeutic potential for relief of arthritis pain-related behaviours and inflammation without evident side-effects.” – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4851925/

This last study is particularly promising. It shows not only that CBD is good for pain reduction, but also the lack of side effects. Almost every commercially available pain killer has unwanted side effects. This is a massive plus for CBD.

Final Thoughts

Whilst more research is needed, studies so far clearly show that CBD oil relieves many different types of pain. Headaches, arthritis, MS, physical pain, and fibromyalgia pain all seem to respond well to CBD oil.

As time goes by, more studies will be completed. These will show the areas of pain management that CBD oil is most effect for.

It could also be the case that different strains of cannabis help different types of pain more effectively. With continuing use and research, knowledge of CBD will increase, meaning even more effective pain treatments for CBD oil in the future.
