Swami Sivananda Saraswati

One of the most inspirational and influencing Gurus of India, who was born in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu in the 80s, Swami Ji was a physician turned spiritual leader. Sivananda Saraswati left his service at the age of 40 and traveled to the yoga capital of the world, Rishikesh and dedicated his life serving people by spreading the ancient holistic art of yoga across the globe. After acquiring in-depth knowledge of meditation and yoga, he then founded Divine Life Society famously known as Sivananda Ashram to impart authentic learning of yoga to people all over the world.

B.K.S. Iyengar

Krishna Pattabhi Jois

A venerated Indian Yoga Guru, K. Pattabhi Jois is a renowned name in the world of Yoga. K. Pattabhi Jois developed and popularized the Vinyasa Style of Yoga also referred to as Ashtanga Yoga. He is one popular name who was instrumental in establishing modern yoga back in the 20th century. He was an eminent scholar of Sanskrit and an Honorary Professor of Yoga. Mata Ji Nirmala Devi

A yogi who founded Isha Foundation to serve the society through its various yogic and spiritual programs organized around the world, Sadhguru is an inspiration to many. Awarded with Padma Vibhushan in the year 2017, he has equally contributed towards social and environmental issues. He is also an amazing author and through his books, he motivates and guides people to release themselves from the prison that lies within.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

He developed the Transcendental Meditation technique and was also the Guru and spiritual advisor of the ‘Beatles’ band. He is often referred to as Maharishi and encouraged scientific yogic study providing some of the first proofs that yoga and meditation do benefit the mind and body. In Transcendental Meditation, the yogi chants mantras to gradually go through the process of relaxation, relieving stress, and promoting personal spiritual growth.

Paramahansa Yogananda

The Guru from India, Yogananda was a yogi and famous for propounding Kriya Yoga. He was the one who introduced many westerners to the holistic art of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his book- ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’. Born in the year 1893, he was the first Indian yogi to settle down permanently in the west. He went to the US in the year 1920 and traveled extensively throughout the country for his spiritual campaigns. He died in the year 1952 while attending a dinner session in the US with the Indian Ambassador, Binay Ranjan Sen.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Ravi Shankar is frequently referred to Sri Sri or as Gurudev or Guruji. One of the present living spiritual gurus of India, Sri Sri inspires many to follow the path of peace through yoga and meditation to achieve salvation. His teachings are for every individual regardless of their caste, gender, nationality, religion, profession, or other identities that separate humans. He emphasizes on finding joy in the present moment, and his programs offer practical tools to accomplish this. According to him, breath is the link between the body and mind to relax the being, and meditation is important for walking on the spiritual path.

Shwaasa Guru, Vachananand

At a young age of 9 years, Swami Vachananand left his home to walk onto the path of finding the truth. He is a yogi, sanyasi, social activist, and philanthropist, and owing to an ancestral oath of his father’s family, he was offered into the fold of Sanyas. A popular name in the industry, Vachananand is frequently referred to as Shwaasa Guru. After years of yoga practice and continuous learning, he attained the knowledge of life, and in 2012 founded Shwaasa Ashram intending to impart the secrets to wellness and health through the wisdom of yoga to the world, making it a better place to live.
