404: a kickass lesson in radical self-love and acceptance

The truest love I’ve ever fought for

Is my own.

I’ve crawled up

From the depths of hell

And it didn’t break me.

It took meeting you

And others

To wake me

To the truth that I already knew,

That NO one

Else can grow

A love any deeper

Than the seeds I’m reaping.

Nobody else has the thread

That’s sewing

This patchwork heart back together.

Just me.

I’ve stopped looking for love

Everywhere else but here.

I’m done with denying myself

In favor of pleasing someone else.

I deserve the deepest respect

And the benefit of the doubt,

I don’t need to shout

For ANY one else’s approval

Anymore.

Not this time,

Not now,

Not ever.

Amen.

I am my own best friend,

And constant companion,

I am in competition

With NO ONE.

I have no need

For anything outside

Of myself.

If someone comes along,

Who can suggest

A better way,

Then I’ll look forward to that day,

But for now,

And for-ever

If that’s the hand that I’m dealt,

I’ll live happily ever after

With MY self.
