Love and Loss: Happy and Sad

There is a woman I once knew.

I still cherish and love her spirit yet to this day
Even though we no longer know each other.

Every once in a while I will see her
although I am not sure if she notices I am there.

Today I saw her stop and pause – reflecting in the beauty of the sunset
Before reaching for her phone to take a picture to capture the moment.

It left my heart happy knowing I inspired her once upon a time
to pause in the wonder of the universe amidst the busyness of life.

Yet it also left my heart sad knowing I am not the one she shares those moments with.

A paradox is something that, despite valid reasoning it appears logically unacceptable.
Involving contradictory-yet-interrelated elements existing simultaneously and persisting over time.

Love and Loss are a true paradox.

How else can you be happy and sad at the same time?
