My husband’s employer got him to meditate when I couldn’t.

I am a meditation superfan.  To the point where I would buy an “I ❤️ Jon Kabat-Zinn” t-shirt in more than one color.  Lordy, please let there be tote bags.

For years, I have tried to get my husband to try meditation.  I asked him nicely, over and over.  No clucking way was his paraphrased response, over and over.

What does a person like me, a live and let live, find your own path, person do? I went into full throttle nagging mode.  Please try meditation.  Please, please, please.  It will be soooo good for you.  Meditation is a scientifically proven stress reliever.  You will love it, I promise.  Just ten minutes.  O.k., o.k., five minutes.  How about two minutes?  Surprisingly, intensive nagging did not make him view meditation more favorably.

Last week, my husband’s employer sent out an e-mail.  They gave everybody a free subscription to “Calm”, a meditation app.  Not only is my husband meditating using the app, I overheard him extolling the virtues of meditation to one of his fantasy baseball buddies.

I call on employers everywhere to consider offering your employees the fringe benefit of a meditation app.  It is scientifically proven you can change lives.
