THE AWAKENING

This is a short poem I wrote, as the world sits behind closed doors and behind masks, watching the devastation caused by the corona virus, and waiting for a ray of hope, a saviour, a solution, to arrive fast. This poem is dedicated to the peoples of the world who wake up again every day, to carry on 2 battles, one that is raging outside us and one that is inside us

The AWAKENING

As we head into lockdown number four
I’m filled with anger, acceptance & bore
Have lost my old self, my needs for more,
New understandings leading me to my core.

The things I cherished no longer I care
Into an uncertain future, as I worriedly stare
Foundations are shaken, the edifice looks bare
Can we ever hug and kiss, and not say “beware”?

Life has been hard for everyone on this earth
There is lack, emptiness, and even more dearth
While we are all sure that our life starts with birth
Progress is uncertain, as we choose sorrow or mirth

Relationships changing, in work & friends
So many new thoughts, & novel trends,
I find my weakness & my power bends,
The winner is one who no longer pretends.

But I do know one thing, that we will be reborn and rise
Being foolish we might suffer, but life will make us wise
A new current shall flow through us, of truth without disguise
Joy, peace, happiness will come, life will again become nice
