Acupressure Points for Menstrual Cramps

OK, I know I’ve written a couple of articles here on how great our period is, but I know many women suffer from periods. If you’re one of those women, you might be thinking, “Kyla, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

This is one of the things that has stopped me from sharing my message with women. I don’t want anyone to feel bad about the state of their menstrual cycle. It’s easy to jump to self-shame, it’s one of the curses of being human!

My aim is to give you something tangible that actually helps.

In today’s article, I’ll give you Acupressure Points to help with your cramps. I’ve been practicing Acupressure since I was 16 years old. It’s the foundation of my practice. The theories found in Acupressure are profound and are underutilized. Acupressure is defined as the application of pressure (as with the thumbs or fingertips) to the same discrete points on the body “stimulated in acupuncture that is used for its therapeutic effects (such as the relief of tension or pain.)” – Merriam-Webster.com

Acupressure is safe and it works!

Here are 3 Acupressure Points you can use on yourself to help you with your cramps.

1. Spleen 6

2. Spleen 4

3. Spleen 10

I couldn’t add photo’s in the article so I created a piece in the main image. Do your best to find the spots on yourself. Trust your body wants you to find them. Each point will feel sore. Push in enough that you can feel it but not too much it hurts a ton. Try to relax your shoulders and arms while holding the points on yourself. Do both sides of your body. All the points are found on both sides.

Tips for effectiveness.

1. Make sure you’re breathing. Breath deep into your belly, in through your nose, out through your mouth.

2. Try to do this when you have some quiet, uninterrupted space.

3. Put yourself into a meditation zone. Go inward.

I hope this helps you if you’re struggling with cramps. I hope it brings you closer to your period and you can find some joy in your cycle.

If you have any questions please reach out! I’m always happy to help.

Love Kyla
