Fear and Covid 19: Paying the Piper?

“We have nothing to fear but fear itself” … And spiders … And 2020. My days start before sunrise with pacing and a cup of tea. In between a windowsill in my kitchen and the doorframe of my multipurpose spare room I notice a cobweb. My heart rate stays steady.

In the beginning of the Summer a small, brown spider took up residence in my kitchen. It is expected of me to call for a spider’s immediate death and the death of its family while browsing Zillow for a new place to live. Instead, it became part of my morning routine to scan the web.

Then one morning my worst fear disappeared, leaving behind 2020 and the frightening fees that are being rendered for letting corporate power off the leash and allowing corporations to have their way with our government. For not dismantling the establishment and repairing the problems that could have prevented this explosion of social unrest. For hyper consumerism that is responsible for the waste of natural resources and pollution. How much more are we willing to pay? How much more can we afford?
