It’s Election Eve and I’m Feeling So Much Emotion. Are You Feeling It Too?

I’m not surprised at the intense emotion I’m feeling today. You may be feeling it too.

Tomorrow will mark one of the most significant days of my lifetime as an American citizen.

Everything I grew up trusting in – our democratic process, the decency of the American people, the voice of “we the people” to direct our government, the fairness of our election process, the integrity of our justice system – it is all hanging in the balance today.

Will we prove ourselves to be a deeply racist, heartless, mean-spirited people, or will we rise to our calling to create an America in which ALL of our people can live peaceful, prosperous lives?

Tomorrow will determine whether or not our institutions and processes hold up under the strain of all that has gone down in the last 4 years. Tomorrow will tell us who we are as a people.

Quite frankly, I’m frightened for the outcome to be revealed.

Will we be able to right the course of our country, or will we sink further under the oppression of this deeply destructive authoritarian administration?

I pray it is not the latter.
