You Never Loved Me.

You never loved me.
Love does not leave
Red marks on my neck
As I shiver and shake in the bathroom
Questioning the evening
Or my part in it.
Love does not demand
An answer from the corner
It backed me into.
It does not scowl
At the lover I outgrew
Or label me a madwoman
Simply because I chose to
Leave.
You never loved me.
Love does not steal the years
Before they have passed
Or laugh as I cry.
It does not come from a hello
Or leave with a goodbye.
That’s how I know.
You never loved me,
No.
