Blog Post Ideas.

Are you thinking about starting a blog? Do you constantly struggle with what to write about? Here are a few tips for stimulating those creative juices. Write what you know and keep it tight and informative. After all, content is king.

We’ve all read at least some books, so write about what you thought of them. Or if you’ve read a series, for example, The Harry Potter Series, write about how well it’s doing in sales in the marketplace around the world. You can also write a blog post on your favourite poem.

Write a review of your car, truck, motorcycle or bicycle. You can also write a review of your laptop stating what you think are the pros and cons of that particular make and model. The gadgets from around your house are also a great idea. From your can-opener to your lawn-mower, from your cell phone to your custom installed kitchen cabinets there is so much to write about in your own home.

Write a review of why you love or hate your vacuum cleaner, generator, your blender, your watch etc. People love to read reviews of products rather than go to the company for what they believe is biased and over-inflated reviews. Is there something about your razor, electric or otherwise, that makes it your favourite so far? Why not write about it? Hey we all shave sometimes.

Write about your favourite vacation spot or a specific vacation experience. You can even write about a trip that you plan on taking and the way in which you narrowed your decision down.

Is there something unique that you’ve learned through meditation or walking or running every day? Perhaps you have some specific tips in mind that you think would interest others on some topics like weightlifting, running, yoga, walking etc.

Have you taken online tutorials or participated in webinars? I know I have. Perhaps write a piece about what you’ve learned from them and how it has educated you, or not, as the case may be. Another great idea is a step-by-step guide to pretty much anything such as setting up a blog or monetizing a blog. Also, readers love bulleted or numbered lists like: Ten Things you Didn’t Know About Introverts or Four Ways Not to Suck at Snow-Boarding. And remember, not all websites accept lists as posts.

Though we shouldn’t dwell on them, we all have regrets. Perhaps putting it on paper could give a sense of closure if it has been weighing heavily on you. It could in fact help someone else to read a candid account of your struggle.

Why do you like/dislike Valentine’s Day? Does the commercialization of Christmas drive you mad? Perhaps there are some old Christmas memories you’d like to share or just childhood memories in general. Write about them.

Are you an introvert and do you like massive amounts of alone time? Maybe you spend a lot of time in nature taking pictures or gardening. Maybe you grow certain plants from seed. There’s a process involved. Not only are readers always looking for handy tips, but they also like to be entertained. I love reading that stuff. Do you compost? Write about the benefits of that.

Perhaps you are an extrovert and really enjoy social gatherings or the limelight in some other way such as public speaking or public office. There are a wealth of experiences and writing topics there.

Do you have a bucket list? Most people seem to have one. You could also elaborate on what you may have checked off up to now as well.

Do you have favourite recipes that you just can’t get enough of or a particular herb or additive that goes great with something? Readers are always looking for new recipe ideas.

I love a wide range of music and listen to a lot of different genres depending on the mood I’m in. Like everyone else, I have my favourites that I will eventually write about. Review a new TV or Netflix series like Bate’s Motel or a sitcom and talk about your likes and dislikes

How do you feel about alcohol and the dangers it presents to the human body? Do the commercials affect our youth? How? There are pros and cons of medicinal and recreational marijuana. Perhaps it’s of interest to you.

When I get around to it, I’m going to write about why I took up painting and writing and the freedom that they afford me. What hobbies do you have? What would you like to try new?

Review a product you don’t own by searching the internet to see the general consensus on it, then report that in your own unique style. (No plagiarizing). I fly a lot and I’ve had some interesting experiences. I plan on writing about the good, the bad, and yes, the ugly.

I’m a summer person and maybe that’s the reason I love to grow plants inside in winter. I think I’ll write more detail on that topic at some point. Pets are also a great topic of conversation and one that readers are always searching for, especially if you had an experience with a certain flea treatment or other problem that you would like to share.

Do you own any antiques?  Write about them. Write about something very nice that was done for you or about a story you heard of a similar act.  Write about an experience you had with a mentor or other notable person you have/had in your life.

There are many dangers associated with texting and driving. Review some statistics and write about the alarming numbers of young adults who are growing up with their phone glued to their side. Write with sincerity. It creates better content and therefore it’s more likely to be well-accepted. Remember – content is King.
