My Wellness Journey

Wellness and self-improvement start with knowing what works for you in diet and lifestyle. Simplifying is essential, such as riding yourself off unnecessary thoughts and not being affected by external things. With Vedic health science, I experienced a shift in mind and body, improving areas in my life that needed improvement.

In my case, it was about learning different methods for diet, routine, and wellbeing. It was also about meditation, which leads to disappearing barriers and blocks in life without having to force anything.

Before, there was a lack of awareness of my mind and body because I constantly tried different tips from different people on what to do in terms of diet and keeping my energy levels up. It didn’t work because I didn’t realize back then that what works for someone else doesn’t necessarily work for me. I wasn’t aware of my tendencies and needs, nor did I know that the connection between mind and body is necessary when changing your ways. So when I heard an Ayurvedic counselor once mention that he couldn’t possibly give someone wellness tips if he hadn’t met with them, something clicked for me.

My journey into Ayurveda started with Yoga. When I took my first yoga class, something happened. It was Hot Yoga, where you sweat and do challenging postures. Even though I felt great physical benefits, my mind changed more than my body, and for the better. Missing pieces started coming together and revealing themselves. I felt more aligned.

What I learned by practicing Yoga is that it is essential to get rid of stagnation in the mind as well as in the body. It is necessary to clear out the clutter before fixing things in your life because everything we create or change begins in the mind.

Yoga classes led to my inner world being calmer, irrespective of what was happening on the outside. I also started changing my diet and eating more fresh foods, which made me curious about Yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda.

Where Yoga focuses on the mind, Ayurveda focuses on the body. It taught me how to flow more easily through life by tuning into nature’s cycle, such as the importance of eating and sleeping at the right time. In addition, the action certain foods and spices have on the body and pairing them with individual needs, instead of counting calories, gave me a new perspective on food and thinking of it as a healing tool.

I also learned about individual body types. In a world filled with diet and nutrition gurus and self-help books with different advice, Ayurveda taught me something important regarding wellness and lifestyle. We are all different. So self-knowledge when it comes to the body (and mind) is essential.

Intertwining yoga with Ayurveda gave me great benefits and a better connection with myself. Most importantly, I learned the philosophical teachings on the attributes of the mind.

I started learning to choose a lifestyle and spiritual practices based on my individual needs, such as meditation. Getting rid of the mind’s clutter and creating space for something new to grow can sometimes take work and time, but it is well worth it. When you think about it, many of our daily thoughts are diversions and not very beneficial; frankly, we don’t need many of them.

What made me feel confident in these practices I have discussed above was that it wasn’t a wishy-washy feel-good thing. I knew I was using systematic methods that have been used and researched for thousands of years. As a result, I am passionate about sharing this ancient simple life science.

You might want to figure out your body type, your tendencies, and what doesn’t work for you regarding your lifestyle. My most crucial health and wellness lessons include knowing what doesn’t work for me and why. You might also need to find stillness from the constant stimuli that bombard your thoughts. Learning simple spiritual practices such as meditation might help you purge some things before connecting with your wellbeing. For me, ancient methods for a modern living have been an all-encompassing help and transformative in all aspects of life. I think the reason for that is because they simplify things.
