The Thrill of Someone New. {A Poem}

A first date with an ease of longer knowing

Asked what my dietary restrictions were

Chose accordingly

Gypsy Queen Mediterranean

He offered his recommendations as plates to share

They were all amazing

As was the intention behind his stare

Our eyes locked and connected often

His a blue so pure

I couldn’t break ardent concentration

Of looking deeper into his gaze

Despair, drugs, jail, sobriety, compassion, empathy

Following passion, skating and photography

Travel, creativity, intriguing me with authentic self-expression

We walked along the river

Conversation brought me in deeper

Saw him in my slumber

The day after his kind eyes were a lens to my vision

All I thought about was how our kiss would hit?

The anticipation of it drove me to get out of bed

To take him up on an impromptu meet up

One of his spots, a record store with a bar and a stage

His friends and others playing music not with orchestrated planned notes

But beats underneath noise, making me feel things

Chains rattling in a suitcase, poetry spoken

Classic instruments played differently

He has a love for and creates “weird music”

It’s new to me, and I may not understand it, but I was able to receive it

In enjoyment

Mostly it gave us the place and space to connect a bit deeper

He pulled me nearer

From behind, he left his hand wrapped around my waist

I got a taste

For his affection

My body close enough to wonder if that was an erection

He stole moments to lean his head close to mine

Our energy fields deeply intertwined

Like my beloved cat glides his cheek to mine

His scruff making me itch for our first kiss

He introduced me to his friends, let me observe him in his element

I get a feel for how they see him and his lips steel every ounce of my interest

A gentleman he walked me to my car, neither one of us wanting to leave

A long hug his arms envelope my waist, I picked up my head from his shoulder

Smiling our eyes meet

A kiss so sweet

Gently he began then quickly

We turned up the heat

His lips part mine gives me just the tip of his tongue

A taste unfamiliar yet delicious

My inhale sweeps him in deeper

Our tongues dance, my heart sings

Moments like these last forever

I felt like we were floating together

All wrapped up in each other

I wonder

Is he thinking similarly to me

Still in bed smiling

Recalling last nights encounter

Our first kiss on repeat

~
