Hypnosis isn’t what we Think it Is.

As a certified hypnotherapist, I want to share a secret with you: I can pretty much guarantee hypnosis isn’t what you think.

In fact, I just had someone the other day who was super interested in a session say, “It’s not witchcraft, right?”

This was their way of double checking that they wouldn’t be compromising their personal beliefs in any way. I hear some version of this all the time, from people being concerned they won’t be in control of their own mind to them questioning if it is against their religious views.

It’s no wonder this is the sentiment when Hollywood movies and stage shows depict hypnosis for dramatic, unrealistic entertainment that is laden with complete falsities. With misconceptions abounding, what many people miss and do not understand is the exceptional power hypnosis has to drastically improve our lives quickly and seemingly effortlessly.

That’s why I’m thrilled that “Health and Happiness with Hypnosis Day” is here again this July 25, as it’s an opportunity to raise awareness of the phenomenal benefits of hypnosis and how it can fantastically boost anyone’s health and happiness.

But first, it helps to have an accurate understanding of what hypnosis actually is, which is simply focused meditation. Being in this relaxed, trance-like state allows us to connect with our inner wisdom that is deep below the surface. It’s a version of quieting our busy outer thoughts and tuning into our still inner ones.

People are often surprised how easily and naturally it happens in sessions without much effort on their part. It really is amazing how we can connect with our own intuitive guide when we tune into our subconscious mind.

This is unsurprising though when we understand how prevalent hypnosis is in daily life.

Unbeknownst to so many, we actually go into hypnosis every day. This happens in multiple ways:

When our minds tune into a movie or TV show, this suspension of disbelief—as the film industry likes to call it—is where we become so immersed in the story that it becomes almost real, even when we know it’s not. This getting lost in the moment is a form of hypnosis.

When we’re driving a regular route seemingly on autopilot, we often don’t recall the journey. Commonly known as “highway hypnosis,” this is the altered state mind where our subconscious takes over as the drive is so ingrained in our minds that we do it unconsciously. This is hypnosis without a hypnotist.

When someone is calling our name, but we don’t hear them as we’re focused on something else in front of us—work, a movie, our phone, the Internet—it’s as though we’ve zoned out. This spaced out state is hypnosis.

If we can daydream, we can be hypnotized.

But how is this possible? We are ruled by our subconscious minds—95 percent of what we think, feel, believe, and do is based in our unconscious.

This happens during our formative years, from birth to age eight, where we are like sponges and absorb everything around us. Anyone within our sphere, whether parents, caretakers, coaches, teachers, siblings, or other children, all have a massive influence on our life. Even seemingly minor comments or events can have a drastic effect on our future life as an adult.

This is why all the conscious action in the world often does not do much for most people. They unknowingly are battling their subconscious mind, which is saying otherwise.

Hypnotherapy sessions serve to bring these hidden subconscious thoughts to the forefront of our minds so we can uncover them, reframe them, and transform them.

There are countless life-changing, transformative benefits from stress reduction to improved sleep to enhanced performance. Simply think about the main areas of your life and you’ll find one (or several) that can be positively affected.

For wealth, there’s skyrocketing wealth wiring, boosting peak performance in career and sports, and eliminating the fear of public speaking.

For love, there’s developing self-love, navigating romantic love, and healing familial relationships.

For wellness, there’s stopping smoking, managing weight, and overcoming negative thinking.

These are just a few examples, and the applications are truly endless.

And results can be so extraordinary that they often sound unbelievable. In fact, when I recently shared client results with someone who was inquiring and didn’t know anything about hypnosis, they asked, almost in perplexed awe, “How is that even possible?”

They wondered how someone could nearly triple their revenue in just three weeks after one hypnosis session. I would wonder too if I didn’t understand hypnosis, as it doesn’t seem to make logical sense. However, it does when we understand how the mind works. My answer was simply this: “My client released subconscious blocks.”

The mind truly is that powerful.

Once these money blocks, love blocks, or wellness blocks are released, it’s as though the floodgates open. We are freed from that programming. We have changed the channel, turned the page, tuned into a new station.

There is much power in releasing what no longer serves us, so much so that it can change our life to the tune of added commas in our income to love of your life encounters to epic well-being.

Whatever we want, we can attract, especially health and happiness.
