Reasons not to vote for Trump, + Reasons to Vote Kamala / Walz for allllll of us. ~ Waylon Lewis

*Editor’s Note: Waylon is sharing a daily-until-the-election reason why to vote for Kamala Harris & Tim Walz. Follow along and share with your friends and family. Make a plan to vote!

“We may want to avoid politics, but it will not avoid us.

For “politics” affects every inch of our lives: education, healthcare, food, travel, basic rights, clean air, safe homes, even the weather, who we can love, our Social Security, our Post Office, our pre-existing conditions, ethics, our income, a fair economy. Even if any one issue or bill doesn’t affect me today, it may affect those I love or care about, or come to affect me years from now.

So don’t leave politics to the immoral, bullying, aggressive. Politics should be the playing field of those who are kind, meek, decent. The more involvement by We the People, the fewer shadows for corruption to hide in.

Stop sidelining your own power, waiting for The Perfect Candidate. Vote for the lesser of two evils—if you don’t, we give that power to the greater evil. Vote for The Better Candidate, who can win and help on climate crisis and equity—then push them to do more. Close the gate on those for whom hate and greed is winning policy.”

This election isn’t about Republican vs. Democrat, ideas vs. other ideas…it’s about those who believe in voting, vs. those who believe only in winning.

The only way we all win is to learn how to live together. To vote, & protect voting rights.

Even the Civil War didn’t change that eternal command: we must learn to live together. Violence doesn’t actually solve anything. It may feel good to be macho or self-righteous or hateful against the enemy, but it just makes things worse.

Reminder: if we elect Kamala Harris we can tear up Donald’s “enemies list” and focus on reunifying as a nation.

PS: Kelsey voted today!

Reminder: if Trump wins, Roe v. Wade will not be restored and a politician, not a doctor, will have final say over a woman’s health.

Reminder: if Kamala Harris is elected President we can make childcare affordable, reduce children’s poverty by half (as Biden did), and reduce the costs of senior homecare.

Some of Kamala Harris’s
“most popular proposals: a tax credit for first-time homebuyers, an expanded child tax credit, allowing Medicare to cover home health care, limiting out-of-pocket prescription costs for all Americans.” #nytimes

Reminder: if Trump wins, he says he wants to cancel the CHIPS Act (which brings manufacturing of semiconductors and other components that every tech adjacent industry on the planet is currently relying on to the US vs. being dependent on China). Tens of thousands of union jobs will be lost if the CHIPS act is canceled.

Reminder: If Trump wins, there is little hope of limiting climate damage. This affects all future generations: your children.

Reminder: if Trump wins, he won’t try and fail to curb Netanyahu in Israel’s war on Gaza. He will encourage him, and other wannabe dictators.

Reminder: it’s price-gouging, not merely the now-under-control inflation, that has made groceries etc so expensive. And with Trump in office, corporations won’t have to worry about regulations—only outsized profits off the backs of working Americans. Kamala has plans, real plans, to tackled price-gouging. Trump will only give more power and $ to the already-very-rich and powerful.

Reminder: if Trump is elected, you can say goodbye to the right to safely protest (unless he agrees with your protest, then anything goes).

Reminder: if Trump wins, you can say goodbye to no-fault divorce. The Affordable Care Act. Any chance we have to curb Climate Crisis before it’s too late. Any balance on the Supreme Court for the next 40 years.

Reminder: if Trump wins, you can say goodbye to the safety of journalists.

Reminder: if Trump wins, say goodbye to Social Security and Medicare. #Project2025

Reminder: if Trump wins, Ukraine falls to Putin.

PS: re Trump’s Madison Square Garden Rally’s comedian,

A summary.
“Hey, he apparently insulted Blacks & Jews, too—so, equal opportunity racist…
Said him & his black friend were “carving watermelon” for Halloween.
Said his mum lives in Ohio & “she’s eating the cats, the dogs, eating the pets up there.”
Said Palestine & Israel should settle their differences with Rock Paper Scissors. “You know the Palestinians r gonna throw Rock everytime.” “But you also know the Jews have a hard time throwing that paper” as he mimes ‘making it rain w/$$$.'”

I’ve been doing a video every day, just about, for a week or two, about voting. Please vote. Link in my bio to watch my videos. And when you do so, you’re keeping Elephant, indie mindful media, alive and thriving.

~

Today I was sitting outside in my bright orange HARRIS WALZ hat, having lunch with my wife. And a big truck rolled up slowly with flags all over it, TRUMP VANCE, and an old cool white guy with a moustache driving it. We looked at each other, shrugged, smiled. I thought he might be aggressive. He yelled out, “I won’t tell!” Meaning I think my vote, a mistake in his mind, was alright with him. I replied, I won’t tell, either! We smiled. I gave him a thumbs up. He returned it. I yelled out, Go America! He smiled and eventually continued driving by.

It was a nice moment.

If you’ve voted, please say so in the comments! I encourage everyone to vote, even if you’re voting for the…not good guy who doesn’t care about democracy or anyone, really, other than himself. It’s a democracy. Use your voice peacefully, patriotically, and let’s all have a nice moment with one another, being peaceful and cheerful and remembering that, love it or not, we’re all in this together. Even the Civil War, awful and bloody as it was, didn’t change that. We have to learn to live together. To listen, and respect one another. And hopefully keep this democracy, this republic, alive and thriving for another 250 years. ~ Waylon @waylonlewis
