Democracy depends on the media, on journalists, existing independently of the government along with a sense of unity and shared purpose that allows people to work with one another despite their differences.

Authoritarianism divides the populace, and that is why the Trump administration has a war on anti-discrimination, and immigrants in particular. But the media can point out that immigrants do not commit more crimes than native-born Americans.

Genuine justice and a united people stand in the way of unearned wealth and privilege. Support the judges who are resisting Elon Musk’s dismantling of our democratic system. The bravery of the Manhattan judge who says Musk’s dismantling, firing, and deleting of data is illegal should be commended by all Americans.

The oligarchs hope that the deconstruction of government will mean no oversight on their economic activities, plus more tax cuts and privileged contracts at the expense of the environment, climate, wilderness, and wildlife. Americans must resist and protest this!

As people lose their jobs or have to pay more as a consequence of needless tariffs, as they lose out on the benefits they earned and government services they deserve, as Allies abandon the US, as women find more of their rights at risk…Americans can support surviving pro-democratic organizations, pursue lawsuits, expose corruption, and in 2 years vote!
