I Wasn’t Born to be a House Wife.

I’ve never had a dime of my life paid for by a man

I wasn’t born into this world to be a house wife

I’m unsure even if I’ll even bear children

I wasn’t born into this world to do your dishes

or your laundry

teach you what it means to a self contained man

I wasn’t born to teach you humility, integrity, accountability, or how to learn to say “I was wrong”

I wasn’t born to teach you what racism is and why sexism still exists in the words that drop from your tongue

I wasn’t born to hold a mirror to your blind spots

or teach you how to be a man that is safe

while i was in therapy

you were doing cocaine and chasing the tails of girls—not women

while I was building a business

you were shopping for a house wife

if you want your house cleaned—hire a house cleaner

if you want meals cooked for you—learn to cook

I am a self sustained woman

I do not belong to you

don’t forget that I have a choice

it is a privilege to have me in your life.
