I remembered something important about myself this morning.  It’s something not just about me, it’s about all of us.  Something that can bring more fun, joy and self-confidence into our daily lives.

It came to me as I was browsing my Instagram and Pinterest feeds.  Something I do frequently throughout the day.  I might find an uplifting quote that I can bring with me into my day, or I might read about someone else’s encouraging perspective on life.  I might find a delicious looking new recipe I want to try, learn a new health tip, or stumble upon some new ideas to fix up or redecorate my house.  And I know I’ll see pictures of the cutest french bulldog that I’m following that make me smile.

What do all of these have in common?  They inspire me.  And that’s what I’m really looking for.  I want inspiration for my day.  And I’m guessing you spend your time scrolling through your feeds because you want to be inspired as well.

When I think about it, though, the source of my greatest inspirations have always come from within me.  The ideas, thoughts, creative nudges, and new perspectives that create the biggest changes in my life come from me.  It’s those a-ha moments of inner revelation that truly inspire me.  And the way I get those is from pausing to reflect and meditate.

What would happen if instead of acting on the impulse to check my social media feeds I stopped to take some deep breaths and meditate for those few minutes?  If I’m honest with myself, I can get caught up in browsing those feeds and 20 minutes goes by in an instant.  What would those 20 minutes of meditating bring me?  What new inspirations could I discover within?

If you want more inspiration in your life, join me in this practice.  The next time we go to check our feeds, let’s pause and go within instead.  I’m sure we’ll still be browsing those social media feeds at some point during the day, but with more moments of self-inquiry we will be the source of our inspiration.
