Dear Reader,
I just finished the article about our true inner beauty and how we are what our society around us expects us to be, the article was particular pointed to woman, which I strongly relate to. I thought I share a true story though concerning boys or better men today just as much. I work with young people and every year as they move by I can see the strong shift on how also boys or young men feel the social pressure on their appearance but on top of that they also often still have to perform with the old “manly” dogma being a real man! When we have to be ready for public events the boys need nowadays easily as much and often more time in the bathroom, not only checking their fine facial lines, beards, hair style, brows and nails but also muscle performance, voice and facial expressions. When we rush them and try to hurry them they equally get insecure, panicked and totally irritated as woman do. Up to a point where it becomes addicting to confirm by others if they are approved for the outside world to see them. I love working with young people because they more often are still like a unwritten chalk board, so free of social pressure and conventions but every year these concepts seem overwhelm the young an year earlier than the last. Shocking and even more shocking to see how many use medicines to deal with these outside pressures, all to fit in the shoe we form them to fit. I agree we are often made by the world we are surrounded in for our expectation of ourself and this is true for both woman and man. How can we help out, by trusting in ourself and accepting and showing with pride who we are. I recently started using more ethical and sustainable products all over in my life and find also this ads to my own path and confidence. I help others everyday to find to themselves and hope soon woman and man can be free of impossible to full fill expectations and then full of positive driven outputs to show who we are and encourage others.
