Oh, my dearest CNN and MSNBC:

It’s been two years since you became a staple in my life. I have loved your reporting and how you made me feel safe in a world that is feeling more unstable every day.

Anderson Cooper, your concern for fairness and the truth has inspired me. Your tender voice of reason each night on your show has been a saving grace for the last two years.

Rachel Maddow, I named my pug/bulldog, Maddie, after you years ago when you were a bright upstart reporter during the first Obama campaign. Your incredible tenacity and sheer brilliance in reporting on MSNBC has captivated me every evening. Even though sometimes I could not always follow the thread, I listened knowing your intelligence is second to none.

And Lawrence O’Donnell, you cannot hide your distain for the current White House each evening on your show. Your integrity has made me feel there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I’m heartened by knowing people like you exist in this world.

Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, I will miss you most of all. I loved starting my mornings off with Morning Joe on MSNBC, the voice of reason. You had the guts early on to stand up for your beliefs. Mika, you are simply amazing. You are speaking up for me as a women, always pointing out the unequitable place of women today. You don’t mince words pointing out the sheer craziness of this Administration. Your father would be, and I believe is, so very proud of you.

But sadly, I must end our relationships in order maintain my sanity. Simply, this President has worn me out. I now get my news from BBC radio in my car and email alerts from NPR, in very small doses. No matter how often I have meditated, said positive affirmations or practiced yoga I could not shake off the horrible feeling that we are living in some alternate universe where we have elected a mad man. I became addicted to the drama. Our realty show president does know how to get ratings and leave us waiting for the cliffhanger!

In order for me to practice mindfulness, living in a vibration of love and teaching kids to be kind, I have had to completely disconnect from the negative news. I cannot be both mindful and fill my thoughts with disgust at the degrading, racist and womanizing comments that come out of the White House daily. I cannot maintain my equilibrium and be bombarded with negative and scary rhetoric.

I have gone cold turkey! I am breaking up with you to get back to my old mindful, positive, happy self. Instead of watching the news I am meditating, going for hikes with my dogs, connecting with my guides and doing yoga.

I’m back to opening my heart and sending peace out to the world. I’m speaking again about raising peaceful kids and creating a mindful home. I am back to helping families live in a high vibration, connecting to peace and acting from love.

I believe there are more people doing great things to help others than not. I believe that American’s really do care about one another. I believe in the human race. I look forward to more people turning to mindfulness as a reaction to the last political year than ever before.

Watching the White House reality show has lowered my energy and made me feel depressed for the first time in my life. Our president loves the ratings game so I have decided not to participate. But now that I’m not engaging, I have taken back my power to live in joy and spread love wherever I go. I won’t let anyone take that from me.

I’m moving on, cable news, so I can be a light that shines on our beautiful loving country.

Let me know when you have shows that focus on all the good in the world and I will check back in, but for now I’m choosing to live mindfully with love in my heart.
