gratitude, kind of.

sometimes, we try really hard to find what we are grateful for in our lives…and it might be hard to find. we look to our past to look for it there, or maybe to our future to see where it may be. but sometimes, it’s necessary to reach within yourself…to DIG deep and turn up what’s underneath and see what’s been happening down underneath all the emotion.
time for some major landscaping…. (if you got that pun, i appreciate you)

stick with me here for a minute:
pretend you are a plant in your own garden, sometimes being restricted by your roots due to the soil beneath, which maybe hold some stubbornness, maybe grief, attachments, some negativity … but whatever it is, it’s holding you back from growing to your greatest potential. when the earth beneath you is neglected, the roots are not able to expand into the most needed, rich soil beneath because instead it is dry, and it’s just not gonna freakin’ work.

SO

…what we do in this moment depends on our mental, emotional, and physical capacity. what we must do is dig deep into that dry, nasty soil, grab that out from under us, and replace it with the fresh, nutrient rich soil on top (which reflects our most present and best self).

see where i’m going with this? or still lost?

i got you. you, the plant, can’t grow with crappy soil (past experiences/ things that hold you back from expressing your truest form), so roots stop growing. when the roots stop growing, the flower pauses in its growth cycle, making hard to move on from this stage in life. it needs that good soil, so you (in plant form) can continue to grow. the only way that’s going to work is if you bring up that crappy, gross dirt. this is where you either forget about it or you face it and you say to that crappy dirt, thanks for making me realize all that sh*t was piled up beneath me. thanks for being there so i could remove you and restart. now imma grow.

got it? good.

now it is time to let go and to reclaim any power that was lost, as a preparation for planting new seeds. these new seeds are new experiences that await to join you on this journey of your growth as a being of existence. new seeds add a little extra spunk in your life, make everything a little bit more interesting, also not to mention add on to that awesome, rich soil.

now to the “gratitude, kind of..” part.

remember that nasty soil we just got rid of? be thankful for it. be thankful for everything that has made you who you are, how you view the world, and your self- expression that draws others to you.

this last week, i have taken the time to dig up some of that dirt. i have felt so much gratitude towards all of the people in my life (even the ones that weren’t so great), the mistakes i have made, lessons i have learned from those mistakes (thanks mom & dad), and those horrible experiences we have thrown at us from what it seems like out of nowhere.

everything still continues to move on if you allow it to and accept your past. be grateful for what you have experienced thus far, and remember to refresh that soil once in a while.

xoxo
