Why can’t you look at me?
You can walk beside me.
You can talk about the latest news with me;
The weather.
But you can’t look at me.
Do you fear me? Yourself?
I see you look at others.
You engage them with your eyes.
So, why can’t you look at my eyes?
What did I ever do to you
to make you turn from me?
To talk with your back to me?
I confess that
In my wildest dreams
It is because
You fear your love for me
And you’d rather shield your eyes
Than show me your true self.
If only dreams came true.
Why can’t you look at me?
