You are not mine.
You
will
never
be mine.
You belong to the World.
You are not mine to keep.
You are the object of my appreciation.
The one I notice.
And see.
And hold.
But you are not mine to keep.
The truth,
when I can see it,
is that I don’t need you.
I
do
not
need you.
I will never need you.
I will only forget that
on occasion.
I will never possess you.
I will only ever possess my thoughts
of you.
Those thoughts are the
only
eternal
thing
involving you
that I am able to keep.
I will enjoy them
in all their glory.
Today.
And only ever
today.
